Now, as we look ahead to the day we observe and celebrate as the birth of Jesus, we must not lose focus on the reason for the party! Thank God for sending His Son, Jesus, to this earth. Thank God Jesus agreed to come on our behalf.

This is the time many people focus on the Baby Jesus - but we must look ahead to the full picture of why He came here and what His purpose was. Jesus came here so we could have an ABUNDANT Life!

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and He stripped him of his power and authority. Jesus lived a sinless life - so He could qualify to do this. Jesus qualified to take our sins and He made us sin free!

What a gift the Father gave us - and what a giver the Father and Jesus are! Thank God that He thought of each of us - loved you and me - so much. John 17:23 tells us that God loves us AS MUCH as He does Jesus!

So, yes, have fun and don't put pressure on yourselves to have the most lights - the best parties - the most gifts wrapped and under the tree. You and I are in control of our time and how we spend it.

Begin now to think of small ways to spread the love of God to others, especially those we may not know. This is the time of year that people are searching for something more, something secure in their lives, even something "spiritual."

Each of us has the opportunity to show them there is a good God and that He loves them very much. We can show them that there IS TRUE peace, safety, comfort and Salvation in Jesus. Especially at this Christmas Season we MUST be a beacon of light.

Too many Christians use the word "Christ" as a replacement or synonym for Jesus.

God gave His Son a Name to which every other name in the universe is to bow. That name is Jesus. There is power in the name of Jesus. Jesus is the name that is above every other name that is named.

"Christ" is NOT Jesus' name. "Christ" is WHAT He is - not WHO He is.

"Christ" means "The anointed one" or refers to the anointing that Jesus is anointed with. The Jews refer to this anointed one as "the Messiah," for whom they await to bring them redemption.

As part of a Christian's new birth and acceptance of Jesus as our Savior, Redeemer, Lord and King, we also accept Him as the prophesied Messiah. But note that Savior, Redeemer, Lord, King and Messiah represent WHAT Jesus is but that "Jesus" is His NAME.

Why is this important?

This is important because everything that we do, as Christians, is done - operating as duly appointed deputies with legal power of attorney - to do everything He did - in the NAME of Jesus.

Sickness, disease and demonic beings will not leave - in the name of the Messiah, the Savior, the Redeemer, the Lord or the King. They will however leave in the NAME of Jesus.

Too many churches today regularly use the title "Christ" as a synonym, if not replacement, for His NAME - Jesus - and then wonder why there is little or no power there.

Jesus, in Mark 16:17-18 said this about Christian believers: In my name shall they cast out demons; In my name they shall speak with new tongues; In my name they shall not be hurt by any deadly thing, not even snake venom or poison; In my name they shall lay hands on the sick, and the sick shall recover.
