One day, I was talking to a woman who said she believed God to take care of one of her desires. But as this person kept talking, I found out there was unrepented sin in her life.
Even though I told her what God said about her way of thinking about this matter was a sin, she knew it but did not want to fully admit it. Even just a few months earlier, her pastor had given a sermon about this particular sin; she said she did not like this, even though she loves the church and her pastor. (It seems to me that the Holy Spirit was convicting her). Do you, do I, feel the same way sometimes?
Her last statement to me was - "but we all have to 'choose our sins.'" Like that made a big difference, and put God's or someone's stamp of approval on it. No!
You do know don't you that the Jews and Romans were not the only ones who put Jesus to death? He took your sins, my sins and the sins of the whole world and He gave His life for you and me. He took our personal death penalty.
The book of Ephesians, Ch 1:4, says we should be holy and without blame before him in love. We should strive to be physically and morally pure.
As Jesus is, so are we in this earth. Jesus lived every day to please the Father. We should do the same.
Jesus was tempted, just like we are, but He did not allow the temptation to get the better of Him, thankfully for us!
When times of temptation try to overtake us then remember and speak "Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world." We need to understand that when we resist the devil, he must flee from us.
Go back to the day of your water baptism. When you are immersed into the water and raised back up - this represents the death of your old self and now you are raised in newness of life. This was the time to put off the old man and our old ways.
He has made us alive - who were dead in our transgressions and sins. So, why choose to live in death again? Why bring darkness into our lives, when we are supposed to be the light and an example to the world around us? Jesus poured out His very blood for you and me, and we should not take this lightly!
Yes, God is LOVE and GRACE and MERCY - but Romans 6:1 says: "Shall we continue in sin so grace can abound?" No!
David is speaking in Psalm 119:1 - He says "Thy word I have hid in mine heart that I might not sin against thee." We need to speak that in our daily lives.
Pray this daily: The words are taken from Ephesians 3:16-20: Father I pray that you would grant me, according to the riches of your glory to be strengthened with might by your Spirit in my inner man; that the anointed one and His anointing may dwell in my heart by faith; so that I will be rooted and grounded in love, so that I will comprehend, as all Christians should, just how very much God loves me - the very depth of His love; and to know the love of Jesus Christ - so that I can be filled with the fullness of Him.
I desire to live in this love daily and pass it onto others. You promise that you are able to do exceeding abundantly above all that I can think or imagine, according to the power of the Holy Spirit in me. Holy Spirit help me live a walk of life that would truly please my Father and allow others to see Jesus in me - so I can bring glory to the Father.
We do have a choice in life, and it should NOT be to "choose a particular sin" because it makes us feel good. No, choose life, choose freedom, and choose victory over the darkness. Choose to please the Father, honor Jesus for what He has done for you and put the devil and sin under your feet, where all filth belongs.
