Diminishing The Darkness By Lifting Up the Marvelous Light Of Jesus Christ

I'm So Broke I Can't Pay Attention!
What does this say to you? Is it merely a clever turn of phrase, or does it describe your daily existence?

Are you and your household in a situation where you continuously run out of money long before you run out of bills? Perhaps financial conditions are a source of great stress in your marriage, your family and your entire circumstances. A sad truth of our age is that a lack of financial wisdom leads many to bankruptcy, divorce, and worse. But I have good news – the Lord of life tells us in His Word that He has come that we might have life, and have it more abundantly! (John 10:10)

If you are reading this it is likely you are already a believer. Even as believers we often limit our concept of abundant life to having a bounty of available cash, and living surrounded by a houseful of stuff. God is not opposed to bounty. Haggai 2:8 tells us that ‘The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts”. Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof…”  But guess what! He wants to share it with us, ALL of it.

People struggling in financial hardship may think that God is trying to teach them humility. After all, God must love poor people – He made so many of them! God didn’t make His people poor. The Devil did that! Look again at John 10:10 – The thief comes not but for to STEAL, kill and destroy. His pleasure is to rob people of their material goods, their health, and their very lives. God has no such plan.

3rd John 1:2 teaches that “Beloved I wish above all things that you would prosper, and be in health…” The Holy Spirit of God inspired John to put down these words so we would learn that God wants the best for us. How can we achieve that? Return to John’s inspired writings “..that you would prosper…even as your soul prospers”.  If your spiritual self is starving and shriveled from lack of “Word nourishment” God hasn’t much to work with. God told Joshua how to prosper and have good success, and He will do the same for us today. Look at Joshua 1: 7-8. God gave Joshua three things to do, every day: Speak the Word, Meditate on the Word and Obey the Word

And because God does not change, and does not lie, He gives us the same instruction today. We have access to His Word-the Holy Bible. It’s more than just a book; it is an intimate portrait of who God is -- His thoughts, His ways. When we begin to bring our ways and thoughts in line with His, we can start defeating the thief, in our finances and in our lives. Financial prosperity is only a part of what God’s best holds for us. His whole concept of prosperity speaks too much more than we can address here. But understand these things:
  • 1.    It is His will that we prosper.  3rd John 1:2; Psalm 35:27; Proverbs 8: 17-21

  • 2.    He proclaims a foundation on which to build prosperity.  Deu. 28: 1-2; Psalms 1:1-3; Proverb 10: 2-6; 2 Cor. 9: 6-7; Gal 6: 6-10

  • 3.    He has commanded it a blessing as a covenant forever.  Deut. 8:18; 29: 9; Zech 8:12. The New Testament in Hebrews and Corinthians has much to say about the “superior covenant” with better promises.

  • 4.    With riches comes the responsibility to use them wisely. Matthew 6:19-33 tells us much about laying up treasure in heaven. A wise servant will use some of those riches as seed, and sow it toward increasing God’s Kingdom.  Mark 4: 20-25
I encourage you to consider these scriptures, listen to the instruction of the Holy Spirit, and decide if you will pay attention. Become a doer of the Word and you don’t ever need to be broke (or broken!) again

Thy Kingdom Come
In Earth - As it Is in Heaven
My real introduction to the Word of God by the Holy Spirit was from the study of healing, which spread into deliverance, then salvation, and later wholeness, redemption, remission, Calvary, the blood, the name, etc, etc.  Marcia and I sort of started somewhere in the middle and have been expanding our studies out in all directions.

But lately, the Holy Spirit seems to have lifted us to a higher vantage point to allow us to see something very interesting.  I believe that He is showing us the framework in which all the rest fits.  It’s almost like looking at beautifully framed, three-fourths finished paint by numbers painting.  Yes there are still areas of the painting that are yet to be filled in, but seeing the frame has changed both the painting and the painter.  Finishing the painting has now taken on much greater importance and urgency.  I speak of the framework of the Kingdom of God and how all else seems to fit and fall in place within it.  My space here is limited, but I’ll attempt to at least introduce the topic.

“Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy KINGDOM come, thy will be done – IN EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN” is what Jesus was praying when the disciples asked how to pray.  The Holy Spirit has shown me that the re-establishment of the Kingdom of God, in earth, as it is in Heaven was - and still is - Jesus’ primary mission and that it should be our primary mission too.  Father God expanded His Kingdom to Earth by creating Adam and giving him a dominion to rule over.  We know the story of Adam’s treasonous abdication, multiple millennia of Satan’s rule, Jesus’ life, sacrificial death, burial and resurrection, establishment of the church and return to Heaven.  But we have only partially understood the answer to the question, “Why?”

The answer is the re-establishment of the Kingdom of God – in Earth – as it is in Heaven!  It’s not part of the picture.  It IS the picture that everything else that we have thus far learned fits within.  Just as Jesus is the REASON for the season at Christmas, the re-establishment of the Kingdom of God is the primary REASON that Jesus came to earth.  Everything else that Jesus did for you and me was to prepare and re-establish us as rulers in His Kingdom.  Jesus came to re-establish a government (a Kingdom) in the hearts of men and men have turned it all into a religion.

Imagine a Kingdom of Kings over domains in Earth that have become like Heaven.  I believe that what Jesus has planned for us as part of His Kingdom is beyond anything that we can even imagine.
